Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 6, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Serum Magazine (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit www.serummagazine.com and any related pages we operate (the “Site”). By using the Site, you agree to the practices described below.
Contents
1. Information we collect
We collect two types of information when you use the Site: information you provide to us directly, and information that is collected automatically as you browse.
Information you provide to us
- Contact correspondence. If you email us, call us, or write to us by mail, we will receive your name, contact details, and the contents of your message.
- Survey responses. Some of our pages ask multiple-choice questions (for example, an age range) before showing you content. We use those answers to tailor what you see; we do not link the answers to your name unless you also email us.
Information collected automatically
- Device and browser information such as IP address, browser type and version, operating system, screen size, language, and referring URL.
- Usage information such as the pages you view, the time and date of your visit, the buttons or links you click, and how long you stay on each page.
- Approximate location derived from your IP address (typically at the city, state, or country level).
- Cookies, pixels, and similar identifiers set by us and by our advertising and analytics partners. See section 3 below.
2. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Site and its content;
- Understand which articles, products, and offers our visitors find most useful;
- Measure the effectiveness of our advertising and the advertising of the third parties we work with;
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, scraping, and security incidents (including blocking known bot traffic);
- Respond to your questions and requests; and
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
We and our partners use cookies, web beacons, pixel tags, local storage, and similar technologies to recognize your browser or device, remember preferences, measure traffic, and deliver and measure advertising. The cookies we use generally fall into the following categories:
- Strictly necessary cookies that allow the Site to function;
- Analytics cookies that help us understand how the Site is used;
- Advertising and measurement cookies, including conversion-tracking pixels used by us and by the advertisers whose products we feature.
You can control cookies through your browser settings — most browsers let you block, delete, or be notified about cookies. Blocking some categories of cookies may affect parts of the Site.
4. Advertising and analytics partners
The Site contains sponsored content, comparison reviews, and links to products sold by third parties. When you click one of those links you may be redirected through a tracking domain (such as go.serummagazine.com) and then on to the advertiser’s website. We use third-party tools (including conversion-tracking pixels and audience-measurement scripts) to:
- Count clicks and conversions so we are paid for the visitors we send;
- Show our content to people who are most likely to find it relevant; and
- Measure how our pages perform across different traffic sources.
These third parties have their own privacy policies and may use information collected on our Site in accordance with those policies. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any advertiser whose products you purchase.
5. How we share information
We do not sell or rent your name, email address, or postal address to third parties. We do share information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers who help us run the Site (for example, hosting, email, analytics, and ad-measurement vendors), under contracts that limit their use of the data to providing the service to us;
- Advertising partners that may receive cookie-based identifiers, IP address, and conversion events as described in section 4;
- Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets;
- Legal and safety reasons, where we believe disclosure is required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of any person; and
- With your consent in any other case.
6. Your choices and controls
You have several ways to control what we and our partners collect about you:
- Browser controls. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies, browse in private/incognito mode, or send a “Do Not Track” signal.
- Industry opt-out tools. You can opt out of interest-based advertising from many participating companies through the Digital Advertising Alliance, the Network Advertising Initiative, or, in the EU, Your Online Choices.
- Mobile devices. iOS and Android both let you reset or limit your advertising identifier in the device’s privacy settings.
- Email. Write to us using the contact details in section 11 to ask what information we hold about you, or to request that we delete it.
7. California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (“CPRA”), gives you the right to:
- Know what personal information we have collected about you in the last 12 months and how we have used and shared it;
- Request deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions;
- Correct inaccurate personal information we hold about you;
- Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising; and
- Be free from discrimination for exercising any of these rights.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 11. We will respond within the time required by law. You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf; we may need to verify your identity (and the agent’s authority) before processing the request.
8. Children’s privacy
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Data security and retention
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the information we collect. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We retain the information we collect only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy or as required by law, after which it is deleted or anonymized.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of the page. If the changes are significant, we will provide a more prominent notice on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
11. How to contact us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, or if you would like to exercise any of the rights described above, please reach out using any of the methods below. Please reference “Privacy Request” in the subject line of your email or letter so we can route it correctly.
